Mandela Day is a reminder that small acts of care can carry deep meaning.
This year, at the suggestion of one of our wonderful staff, Caron-Lee, the CBA team was proud to support Hannah’s Place of Safety, a home dedicated to caring for vulnerable, abused and abandoned children. On Wednesday, 15 July, our team visited Hannah’s Place as part of our Mandela Day initiative, contributing towards some of their most urgent needs and spending time with the little ones in their care.
In the lead-up to the visit, the CBA team came together to collect, pack and deliver essential items, including clothing, nappies, food, medicine and other much-needed supplies. These donations were made possible through the generosity of our team, who responded with compassion and a shared commitment to giving back.
While donations of goods are always appreciated, financial support remains one of Hannah’s Place’s greatest needs. These contributions help cover essential running costs such as staff salaries, fuel, electricity and emergency medical care, allowing the organisation to continue providing consistent care and protection to the children who depend on them.
As part of our support, we also encouraged our community to get involved through the Adopt-a-Cot Initiative, where a monthly contribution of R150 helps create a reliable source of ongoing support for the children in their care. Whether through a once-off donation, a monthly commitment, items from their basic needs list, or simply helping to share their story, every contribution makes a difference.
Once at Hannah’s Place, we spent our 67 minutes where it mattered most: holding, comforting and sharing love with the gorgeous tiny humans in their care.
It was a humbling experience and a powerful reminder that giving is not only about what we bring, but also about being present. Sometimes the most meaningful contribution is time, attention and care.
We extend our sincere thanks to Hannah’s Place of Safety for welcoming us, and for the incredible work they do every day. Their commitment to protecting and nurturing vulnerable children is inspiring, and we are grateful to have been able to support them this Mandela Day.
