What is Cloud PBX?
As an innovative solution to private branch exchange (PBX) systems, cloud PBX allows for a secure and reliable phone connection that runs through an internet connection. This system functions in a similar way to a traditional PBX system but is hosted on a cloud server rather than on-premises.
Cloud-based phone systems have revolutionised business communication, making it more streamlined and efficient. Using this system allows for flexibility and easy scalability in any company whilst maintaining lower operating costs. This platform assists in minimising management and operational issues. It also ensures hassle-free communication systems for your business, as all communication needs can be managed from a single platform.
This solution is also advantageous in adding convenience to a distributed or remote working team. It offers many features, such as call forwarding, voicemail-to-email, auto attendant, and conference calling, designed to enhance productivity and collaboration.
The Difference Between Cloud PBX and VoIP
While both these systems are revolutionising business communication and often work together, they are not the same. VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is a technology that allows telephone calls to be made over computer networks. It converts analogue voice signals into digital data packets and supports real-time, two-way transmission of conversations using Internet Protocol (IP).
On the other hand, Cloud PBX (Private Branch Exchange) is a business phone system delivered as a hosted service. It is more feature-rich than traditional PBX systems, with capabilities like voicemail, call routing, and automated attendants. The “cloud” aspect of this phone system solution means that its infrastructure and services are hosted by an external provider, freeing businesses from the need to invest in costly hardware and maintenance.
VoIP is the means of transmitting voice calls over the internet, while Cloud PBX is a phone service that uses VoIP technology. You can have VoIP without Cloud PBX, but you can’t have Cloud PBX without VoIP – and we believe you shouldn’t want to!
Benefits for Business
Cost Efficiency: Traditional phone systems often require substantial upfront investment in hardware, installation, and setup. With Epygi, these costs are significantly reduced as the system operates over the internet using your existing infrastructure. There’s no need for expensive physical lines or equipment. Additionally, these systems are handled by a service provider, eliminating the need for on-site technicians and reducing the overall cost of ownership.
Scalability: As businesses grow, their communication requirements also increase. With a traditional system, this would mean investing in additional lines and equipment. However, with this system, scaling up is as simple as adjusting your plan with the service provider. The same ease applies when scaling down, making it a flexible solution that can adapt to the changing needs of a business. This flexibility can be especially beneficial for businesses with seasonal fluctuations in call volume.
Mobility: The ability to make and receive calls from anywhere is crucial! With Cloud PBX, you’re not tied to a specific physical location. As long as you have a stable internet connection, you can make and receive calls. This mobility can enhance productivity and ensure uninterrupted communication, regardless of where your employees are.
Advanced Features: Cloud PBX has advanced features designed to streamline business communication. These include voicemail-to-email services, which automatically convert voicemails into text and send them to your email, ensuring you never miss an important message. Automated attendants can handle and direct calls efficiently, improving customer service and freeing up your staff for other tasks. Call routing allows calls to be directed to the right person or department, reducing waiting times for customers and improving the overall efficiency of your communication.
